This week, CSSC SETH signed a commercial contract with Jiangnan Shipyard to provide an innovative shaft generator + battery hybrid power solution for twelve 18,000 TEU LNG dual-fuel container vessels. These vessels are being built by Jiangnan Shipyard for the French shipping group CMA CGM.
This batch of twelve ships represents a series of mainstream green sea-going vessels ordered by CMA CGM from Jiangnan Shipyard in early 2025. All vessels will be equipped with SETH’s shaft generator and battery hybrid power solution. The system for each ship features a shaft generator power of 4,150 kW and a battery capacity of 7,838 kWh.
This project marks the first application of a battery-hybrid power system on the main ocean routes by an international leading ship owner. The hybrid power system will significantly enhance the vessel's environmental performance, safety, and economic efficiency.
After undergoing multiple rounds of rigorous factory inspections, audits, and extensive technical exchanges with CMA CGM, SETH secured the contract in fierce competition among numerous international brands. The key to its success lies in its full value chain product system, covering core technology R&D, high-end equipment manufacturing, and vertical system integration.
